The Lakers injury woes continue, as forward Rui Hachimura is set to miss some time. The Japanese star underwent surgery on Friday for a nasal fracture he sustained in Wednesday's 104-101 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Los Angeles is now without their two starting power forwards in Jarred Vanderbilt (who is yet to suit up in the regular season), and the 6-foot-8 Hachimura.
More injury problems for LeBron James' squad features point guard Gabe Vincent, out for at least one more week with a knee effusion. Meanwhile, starters Cam Reddish, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are all day-to-day.
How long will Lakers forward Rui Hachimura be out for?
The estimated time of recovery Rui Hachimura will need is one week, which means he will likely miss four games (all away): at Cavaliers, at 76ers, at Pistons and at Thunder. The silver lining for LA is that the Japanese star will be able to practice non-contact drills including shooting, and work out normally until it is deemed safe for him to return by team doctors.
The Lakers are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 9-7 record, which is a great improvement from the 2022-23 season (when they were 5-11 at this time).
