Bruce Willis and Demi Moore became grandparents via Rumer Willis as they appeared in photos on social media with Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, born April 2023.
Willis also celebrated Father's Day with his granddaughter, holding her close in a photo in the backyard of a nice-looking home that appeared to have a view of greenery behind the hedges.
"Seeing my father hold my daughter today was something I will treasure for the rest of my life," Rumer Willis said on Instagram. "His sweetness and love for her was so pure and beautiful.
"Papa I'm so lucky to have you and so is Lou. Thank you for being the silliest, most loving, coolest Daddio a girl could ask for. Best Girl Dad in the game...."
The birth of Louetta was eagerly anticipated by the family with Moore posting photos in December showing her daughters at a baby check-up with Rumer.
Willis even cracked a joke about wanting a grandson, according to Rumer, throughout the Covid-19 pandemic as she waited for the right person before deciding to become a parent.
Following his diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia, it seems as though the 68-year-old actor wants to be close with his family and to bond with the newest addition and build a loving connection with her.
What is frontotemporal dementia?
Dementia is a degenerative disease, meaning that the condition worsens with time and frontotemporal dementia specifically affects the frontal and temporal lobe of the brain.
The frontal lobe is the largest of the four cortexes (parts) of the human brain and it's thought to control motor functions such as the ability to walk and talk. Whilst the temporal lobe is involved in processing information such as visual memory and language comprehension.
Symptoms can include disassociation from family, changes to behaviour, compulsive purchasing, screaming, inability to regulate emotions and changes to personality.
In Willis' case, he is now said to be non-verbal and non-communicative, with Gordon Caron believing that Willis no longer remembers him after three minutes of conversation.
"My sense is the first one to three minutes he knows who I am," Caron said to the New York Post. "He's not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader-he didn't want anyone to know that-and he's not reading now. All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he's still Bruce.
"When you're with him you know that he's Bruce and you're grateful that he's there, but the joie de vivre is gone."
