As one of the biggest players in the sports industry, it is only logical to think that ESPN Bet could be a big success.

With over 80 brands and as a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, ESPN remains the US' largest sport media company.

What is ESPN Bet?

ESPN Bet launched on Tuesday and is currently available in 17 states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The online sportsbook offers a variety of betting options for major sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and college sports.

It also offers a wide range of betting types, including point spreads, moneyline bets, parlays, and teasers, through its website and mobile apps, with full integration into ESPN's existing platforms.

Can ESPN Bet be successful?

There is every reason to think that ESPN Bet is geared up for success given its huge profile and easy recognition.

"People that think this battle has been fought and won are way ahead of where I think the market is," Steve Bornstein, who leads Genius Sports' North America division and previously worked for ESPN, told the Financial Times.

"Obviously there are some very dominant players . . . but we're still in the go-go growth stage, the market is not calcified."

According to the Financial Times' report, ESPN have customer surveys which show that one in two woudl try ESPN Bet and one in four expect to make it their leading betting platform.

That shows the size of the opportunity open to ESPN, who have invested heavily to make their new launch a success.
